How are the Senate President and House Speaker elected?

  How are the Senate President and House Speaker elected?   The Senate elects its President and the House of Representatives elects its Speaker. This is done by a majority vote of all its respective Members. Each House also has the power to choose other officers it deems necessary for its operations. This election process is mandated by Article VI, Section 16 1 1987 Philippine Constitution.   “SECTION 16. (1) The Senate shall elect its President and the House of Representatives its Speaker, by a majority vote of all its respective Members.”   01-Feb-26
