Does voluntary renunciation interrupt a Senator’s term?

Does voluntary renunciation interrupt a Senator’s term?   If a Senator voluntarily renounces their office, it does not count as an interruption of their term. The full term for which they were elected is still credited to them regardless of the renunciation. This prevents members from bypassing term limits by resigning briefly. This rule is stated in Article VI, Section 4 1987 Philippine Constitution.   “Voluntary renunciation of the office for any length of time shall not be considered as an interruption in the continuity of his service for the full term for which he was elected.”   01-Feb-26
