Can works be used for judicial proceedings?

Use made of a work for the purpose of any judicial proceedings is not considered an infringement. Section 184.1(k) Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines also covers the giving of professional advice by a legal practitioner. This ensures that copyright does not obstruct the administration of justice. It allows legal professionals to use relevant documents without fear of copyright violations.   “(k) Any use made of a work for the purpose of any judicial proceedings or for the giving of professional advice by a legal practitioner.”   January 7, 2026
