Can a commission member have financial interests in government contracts?

Members are absolutely prohibited from possessing any direct or indirect financial interest in government contracts. This ban also extends to franchises or privileges granted by any government agency or instrumentality. Government-owned or controlled corporations are also included within the scope of this strict financial prohibition. This anti-corruption measure is firmly codified in Article IX, A, Section 2 1987 Philippine Constitution. “…nor shall he be financially interested, directly or indirectly, in any contract with, or in any franchise or privilege granted by the Government, any of its subdivisions, agencies, or instrumentalities, including government-owned or controlled corporations or their subsidiaries.” 06-Mar-26
