philippine holidays for 2019

Pursuant to Proclamation No. 555, dated 15 August 2018, the Philippine holidays (both regular and special non-working days) for 2019 are as follows:

01 January 2019, Tuesday – New Year’s Day (regular holiday)
05 February 2019, Tuesday – Chinese New Year (Special non-working day)
25 February 2019, Monday – EDSA People Power Revolution Anniversary (Special non-working day)
09 April 2019, Tuesday – Araw ng Kagitingan (regular holiday)
18 April 2019 – Maundy Thursday (regular holiday)
19 April 2019 – Good Friday (regular holiday)
20 April 2019 – Black Saturday (Special non-working day)
01 May 2019, Wednesday – Labor Day (regular holiday)
12 June 2019, Wednesday – Independence Day (regular holiday)
June 2019 – Eidl Fitr -actual date to be confirmed (regular holiday)
21 August 2019, Wednesday – Ninoy Aquino Day (Special non-working day)
29 August 2019, last Monday of August – National Heroes’ Day (regular holiday)
August 2019 – Eidl Adha -actual date to be confirmed (regular holiday)
01 November 2019, Friday – All Saints’ Day (Special non-working day)
02 November 2019, Saturday – Additional Special non-working day
30 November 2019, Saturday – Bonifacio Day (regular holiday)
08 December 2019, Sunday – Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary (Special non-working day)
24 December 2019, Tuesday – Additional Special non-working day
25 December 2019, Wednesday – Christmas Day (regular holiday)
30 December 2019, Monday – Rizal Day (regular holiday)
31 December 2019, Tuesday – last day of the year (Special non-working day)

Under the Philippine Labor Code, for regular holidays, employees are paid their daily wage for such day even if they do not come to work. Should they work on a regular holiday, employees are entitled to double their daily rate.

Anent special non-working days, the principle of “no work, no pay” shall apply. However, if an employee comes to work on a special non-working day, there must be a premium of 30% added to his daily rate.
